Light in the Darkness

Jesus asked them, "Would anyone light a lamp and then put it under a basket or under a bed?  Of course not! A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light will shine."   Mark 4:21

On Victoria Day, we spent the day at your dad's family farm.   We had a warm weather so we headed out to the hunt camp and enjoyed a campfire.  You got dirty (very dirty!) and you played with your cousins and the dogs and you had a great time.  Your dad bought fireworks and sparklers for the kids.  For a few moments, we were all kids again and we loved to see you anticipate the colours of the fireworks and smile big when they exploded in the sky. Between the fireworks, you and your cousins ejoyed a sparkler or two.

The light from a sparkler is made with a combination of chemicals, but the Light of Christ is made by the Holy Spirit and it lives in believers.  Paul writes in Ephesians that we were full of darkness before but now we're full of the light from the Lord. (Chapter 5, verses 8 and 9) When we are followers of Christ, we are lamps, shining brightly for His glory.  So, don't hide your lamp under the bed or anywhere else.  Hold it up so that God can use you.  Let your light shine so that other people can see God and come to know Him. We can't wait to see how God uses you in your life.  Shine brightly, Son, and let Him use you for His purposes.

A Day at the Beach

"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'" John 7:38

We spent Tuesday on the beaches of my ancestral waters.  We had a picnic on Grandma's old quilt and then you splashed around in the water.  The sun shone so brightly and the weather was lovely and warm.  You enjoyed the freedom and ran around squealing with delight.

Water is very cleansing.  We use it in baptism for just that reason.  Christ is often called "The Living Water" as he is able to wash away our sins.  We all look around for something to satisfy our 'thirst', and Jesus is the only one who can really satisfy it.  We can come to Jesus and drink by believing in him and  joining him in a growing and personal relationship.  His well is deep and you can drink freely there.  Grab a bucket and fill it up.  Delve into the Word and find satisfaction there.  The water is fine.  Very fine.

Prayerfully Yours,

Mum

My Dear Son

I've started this blog for you; to show you how beautiful our days are together when Daddy is away and so you have something to remember me by.  My own beautiful mother died too young, and I want you to have clearer memories of your mother than I have of mine.
You are the joy of my days.  Everyday I wake up next to you and your dad is one  more that I cherish.  I praise God for you.  I pray for you.  I love you.  And I enjoy you. Never forget that you are wanted and loved.
You are almost three years old and you are so much fun!   I love to make things with you and for you.  I enjoy seeing the delight in your face when we discover something new.  We have adventures everyday.  You are so creative and expressive.  Keep on creating and expressing yourself!
I pray that God gives me enough time with you to share my faith with you.  In our everday experiences, He goes with us on our journey and we will talk about Him and with Him so we can grow in faith.  I am excited to see the godly man he makes of you!  Off we go!
Prayerfully Yours,
Mum
